New Delhi, 20 May (Hindustan Times). Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Mike Hussey has said that skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni bats lower down the order due to a knee injury.

Hussey said at a press conference held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Friday, “It is very clear that he likes to come in the last few overs, that is his plan. His knee is not 100 per cent right, and he is trying to do the best he can throughout the tournament. He doesn’t want to come early, because coming early will involve running fast singles and doubles, which will put pressure on the knee.”

Despite Dhoni being seen limping and facing difficulties while running between the wickets, he has continued to keep wickets and make valuable contributions.

On Dhoni’s commitment, Hussey said, “He is trying to do as well as he can throughout the tournament.”

Praising Dhoni’s impact and the support he has received, Hussey asserted, “The support we have received is incredible everywhere, it fills us with enthusiasm. MS is a legend of the game.”

He further expressed confidence that Dhoni can continue to play for another five years, saying, “He is still batting very well, still coming to training and working on his game and hitting the ball well.” He is motivated to … he has still hit sixes, he is enjoying his hitting ability and contributing to the team so there is no reason why he can’t play for another five years.”

CSK will face Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi this evening.
