Bahraich: The leopard that was continuously attacking people in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh has been caught. The leopard, which had become a synonym of terror in Sujauli, was caged late at night. It had attacked a girl and an old woman. After the leopard was caught, the villagers heaved a sigh of relief. Earlier, a leopard was caught on Monday as well. This is the second leopard caught late at night.

According to the information, a leopard had created terror in Ayodhya Purva of Gram Panchayat Sujauli of Sujauli Range under the Katarniaghat forest area. The villagers were in a state of panic for the last one week due to the terror of the leopard. Five days ago, a leopard entered a house and attacked and injured a 13-year-old girl. After this, late Tuesday night, a leopard entered the house of an old woman, 80-year-old Rehmana, and attacked her.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday evening, the forest department put up a cage in a sugarcane field in the village. Meanwhile, around 9 o’clock, the leopard was captured in the cage. There was a wave of happiness among the villagers on the news of the leopard being captured in the cage. Police station in-charge Harish Singh and ranger Rohit Yadav reached the spot loaded the leopard on a tractor trolley and took it to the range office.

Earlier, the man-eating leopard that attacked and ate a farmer in Dharampur Bejha village of the Kakraha forest range of Katarniaghat Wildlife Department was caught early on Monday. Around 3 am on Monday, while trying to hunt a goat kept as bait, the leopard got trapped in the cage set up by the forest department. The villagers informed the forest department and they took the leopard to the range office.
Kandhai (40), a resident of Maikupurwa village of Dharampur Bejha, located on the edge of Naubana forest, had gone to the field near his house on Sunday afternoon when a leopard came out of the forest and attacked him. Since it was a deserted place, no one could hear his screams and the leopard dragged the farmer into the forest. The leopard had eaten the flesh of the neck. There were injuries in many places on the body. A villager who went towards the field raised an alarm after seeing the dead body.
