Last year, 1321 serious cases were reported in Uttarakhand


Dehradun: Uttarakhand has seen many crime incidents in the last one year. In which maximum 1321 serious crimes are involved. This information has been provided by the Police Administration under the Right to Information Act. Atrocities against women have increased in Uttarakhand, according to information provided by the police administration to RTI activist Naddamuddin. Incidents of rape have come to light in almost all districts.

According to the details received by the administration, a total of 1321 serious crimes have been committed in Uttarakhand in the year 2022. This includes 872 rapes, 19 robberies, 170 robberies, 187 murders, 3 kidnappings for ransom and 70 dowry deaths. In the year 2022, 872 rape cases were reported in 13 districts of Uttarakhand, with Udham Singh Nagar having the highest number of 247, followed by Haridwar with 229 and Dehradun district with 184. The least one case of rape has been reported in Rudraprayag district. In other districts, 103 rape cases were reported in Nainital, 16 in Almora, 17 in Pithoragarh, 10 in Bageshwar, 7 in Champawat, 13 in Uttarkashi, 15 in Tihri Garhwal, 9 in Chamoli and 20 in Pauri Garhwal district. Railway Police (GRP) has also registered 1 case.

A total of 187 cases of murder, considered the most serious crime, have also been reported. Udham Singh had the highest number of murders at 49, followed by Haridwar at 39 and Dehradun district at 34. Chamoli district has recorded the lowest crime of 1 murder. Other districts include 22 Nainital, 2 Almora, 4 Pithoragarh, 5 Bageshwar, 4 Champawat, 6 Uttarkashi, 3 Tihri Garhwal, 4 Rudraprayag, 14 murders in Pauri Garhwal district.

In the year 2022, there have been 19 cases of robbery in five districts of Uttarakhand. Out of these maximum 8 occurred in Haridwar, 5 in Udham Singh Nagar, 4 in Dehradun and 1 each in Nainital and Almora. 170 cases of robbery have been reported in 9 districts. Of these, the highest 62 occurred in Dehradun, 40 in Udham Singh Nagar, 37 in Haridwar, 19 in Nainital, 3 each in Almora and Pithoragarh and GRP, 1 each in Bageshwar, Tehri Garhwal, Chamoli district. 3 cases of kidnapping for ransom have occurred in only two districts of Uttarakhand. These include 2 in Udham Singh Nagar and 1 in Haridwar District. 70 cases of dowry death have occurred in 9 districts of Uttarakhand. Most of them 24 occurred in Udham Singh Nagar, 20 in Haridwar, 9 in Nainital, 8 in Dehradun, 3 each in Pithoragarh and Tihri Garhwal, 1 each in Bageshwar, Champawat and Pauri Garhwal.
