Lashkar-e-Taiba associate arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla, case registered under illegal activities

Srinagar: Security forces on Saturday arrested a terrorist associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Acting on information about terrorist activities in Nagbal village of Chandusa area of ​​north Kashmir district, security forces set up a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at Sharanj crossing in Nagbal, a police spokesperson said.

On seeing the security personnel, the person tried to escape.

A person coming from Shiranj towards Nagbal tried to escape on seeing the security personnel but was caught smartly, the spokesperson said. A grenade was recovered from him and he was immediately taken into custody, the spokesperson said. He said that the arrested person has been identified as Muhammad Ashraf Mir, a resident of Laridura Chandusa, who was working as a militant associate of Lashkar.

The spokesperson said that Mir is a surrendered terrorist. A case has been registered under the Arms Act and Unlawful Activities Act and investigation is on, he said.
