Opposition seeks judicial probe
Opposition parties have demanded a Supreme Court-monitored judicial probe into Lakhimpur Kheri violence. The Congress, Trinamool Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Rashtriya Lok Dal were among the parties that condemned the attack on farmers while demanding the probe and strict action against the accused.
Some parties, including the Congress, also demanded immediate sacking of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra, following Samyukt Kisan Morcha’s allegation that his son was travelling in one of the vehicles involved in the incident.

Aam Aadmi Party has demanded a CBI probe into Lakhimpur Kheri violence. Kejriwal demanded that the perpetrators of “such a heinous crime” be given “strictest punishment”.
The party’s MP Sanjay Singh also demanded that “strictest punishment” be handed down to the “killers”. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the “three black farm laws” against which farmers have been protesting for the last 10 months.
