Khelo India University Games: Dinesh and Ankit win gold in Greco-Roman, Neha Chowgule also wins gold

Varanasi, May 27 (Hindustan Times). Singhania University wrestler Neha Chowgule won the first gold medal at the Khelo India University Games on Saturday. Neha won gold by defeating Guru Nanak Dev University’s Manisha on points in the women’s 50 kg final at the Student Activity Center of IIT BHU.

Sandhya of Maharshi Dayanand University won the bronze medal defeating her rival Komal. At the same time, the gold medal in women’s 55 kg weight category went to Ishika of Punjab University. He defeated Aarti of Guru Nanak Dev University in the final. Nishu of Chaudhary Ranveer Singh University bagged the bronze medal. She won the bronze medal by defeating Usha of Indira Gandhi University on points.

Chandigarh University’s Vijay Malik won gold medal in men’s 70kg freestyle wrestling event at IIT BHU’s Ramesh Srinivasan Student Activity Center under the supervision of Sports Authority of India and Uttar Pradesh Sports Department on the initiative of Khelo India. Shubham of SRU got silver and Rakesh of SGU got bronze. LPU’s Karan won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman 77 kg weight category. He achieved this success by defeating Abhimanyu of Punjab University. NIRLMU’s Akash had to be harassed with a bronze medal.

On the other hand, in the Greco-Roman 60 kg weight category, Chaudhary Ranveer Singh University’s Dinesh wrote his name on the gold medal. He defeated Mohit Narwal of Guru Nanak Dev University. Mohit had to settle for a silver medal. While Harsh Rana won the bronze medal. And Ankit of Chaudhary Ranveer Singh University won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman 82 kg weight category. Silver to Sundar Singh of GKU and Md. of TMLU. Luqman Ali got the bronze medal.

In the 67 kg Greco-Roman weight category, Kashinath Bilagi of DGU won gold, Vijay Shankar Yadav of VBSPU won silver and Praveen of LNIPE won bronze.

In the 79 kg freestyle weight category, Sagar of Kalinga University won gold, Chander M of CDLU won silver and Anuj Tomar of Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut won bronze. Similarly, Sumit of Indira Gandhi University won the gold medal in the 57 kg weight category of freestyle wrestling. Sagar of GKU got silver and Satish of CBLU got bronze. On the other hand, in the 97 kg freestyle weight category, Sahil of GKU bagged gold, Abhishek Khokhar of Chaudhary Charan Singh University bagged silver and Anil Kumar of OPJSU bagged bronze.
