Kharge-Priyanka expressed grief over the demise of former PM Manmohan Singh, know what other leaders said

Former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh is no more. On his demise, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge posted an emotional post saying that the country has lost a visionary leader whose policies and ideology gave India a new identity on the global stage. Dr. Manmohan Singh will be remembered as an honest and top-class economist whose policy of economic liberalization ushered India into a new economic era and changed the lives of crores of Indians.

Mallikarjun Kharge gets emotional

He wrote, “The former Prime Minister created the middle class in India and lifted millions of people out of poverty. His rights-based welfare approach and economic reforms policies not only strengthened the Indian economy but also brought about significant changes in India’s social structure. I express my deep sorrow at the loss of a senior colleague, a gentle intellectual and a humble soul. Dr. Manmohan Singh worked all his life for the progress and prosperity of India and through his hard work won the trust of not only his party but the entire country.”

 

Mallikarjun Kharge wrote, “I am proud that I had the opportunity to be a part of his cabinet. I worked with him as Labor Minister, Railway Minister and Social Welfare Minister.” He said, “Who believed in work more than words. His contribution will be permanently recorded in Indian nation-building and his role in Indian history will always be remembered with respect. In this hour of grief, I express my deep and heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and countless supporters. I pray to God that they get strength to bear this irreparable loss.”

Congress General Secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “There are few people in politics who command the respect of Sardar Manmohan Singh Ji. His integrity will always be an inspiration to us and he will always be counted amongst those who truly loved this country and remained committed to the service of the nation despite unjust and deeply personal attacks by the opposition. He was a true egalitarian, intelligent, resolute and courageous and stood his ground till the end. In the tough world of politics, he was a unique, dignified and gentle man.”

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy wrote, “One of the greatest economists, leaders, reformers and above all, a humanist of our times, Manmohan Singh ji is no more with us. A man who had integrity, unspeakable honesty and a human approach to decision making, Dr Singh was not only a true architect of the new India but also demonstrated the need for decency and class in politics and public life. He proved that decency and class are very important in politics. He was a legend, with whose death India has lost a great son. Truly, as he himself said, history will remember him perhaps with more respect and reverence than his own times. I offer my deepest condolences and prayers to the bereaved family.”

 

I am in deep shock and grief: CM Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “Deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden demise of our former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Ji. I worked with him and saw him very closely in the Union Cabinet. There was no doubt about his wisdom and intelligence and the depth of the financial reforms he brought to the country have been acknowledged by all. The country will miss his leadership and I will miss his affection very much. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and supporters.”

Senior Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel said, “The country will be grateful to you, Sir. History will always be filled with your contributions. Today, a great national worker has left us on the last journey of his life. Words are not enough to describe his personality, contribution and service to the country. The demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is a big loss.”
