Maharashtra NCP Chief: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Maharashtra chief Jayant Patil on Sunday said the BJP’s humiliating defeat in the Karnataka assembly elections is a boost for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra. Patil said that the MVA will jointly challenge the ruling party at the Center in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, along with smaller parties.

After attending an MVA meeting at NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s residence, Patil said the alliance (MVA) will work on the seat-sharing formula before the Lok Sabha elections and the Maharashtra assembly elections later this year. MVA consists of Shiv Sena (Uddhav group), Congress and NCP.

Uddhav Thackeray and Nana Patole were present in this meeting.

Other MVA leaders including Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) Uddhav Thackeray and state Congress chief Nana Patole attended the meeting. Jayant Patil said, “Like in Karnataka, I am confident that MVA will win the trust of the people and work more strongly in Maharashtra as well.”

Decision to negotiate with smaller parties

Jayant Patil said MVA leaders have decided to hold talks with other smaller parties and hope to challenge the incumbent government in 2024. Patil said the three MVA parties will meet and work out the seat-sharing formula ahead of the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra assembly elections.

It’s time to take the oath in Karnataka

After the declaration of Karnataka assembly election results, a question is burning in everyone’s mind that who will be the next Chief Minister of the state? The landslide victory of the Congress has boosted the spirits of the leaders, but it is still not clear who will hold the power. Amidst all this, news is coming from sources that the party has decided the day and date for the swearing-in ceremony.

According to sources, the swearing-in ceremony has been fixed for Thursday (May 18). Apart from Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will attend. Leaders of like-minded parties will also be invited along with other senior leaders of the party. After all this is decided, the biggest issue before the party is who will become the Chief Minister?
