Karnataka Government Formation: Suspense continues on who will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. The swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister in Karnataka may take place on Thursday (May 18). Former chief minister Siddaramaiah and state Congress president DK Shivakumar are contenders for the post of chief minister. Congress sources told ABP News that Siddaramaiah’s stake is high.

It is believed that Siddaramaiah will have the support of most of the MLAs, but if DK Sivakumar gets more support, the decision may go in his favour. According to Congress sources, the party leadership is thinking that the Chief Minister’s name should be announced by today or tomorrow and the oath taken on Thursday. With one Chief Minister and only one Deputy Chief Minister, 24-25 ministers can take oath together.

If Siddaramaiah is not made the Chief Minister, there may be a division
According to sources, there are many other issues with DK Shivakumar, which have to be considered. The Chief Minister should be acquitted of all charges. Sources say that there is no scope for division in the party if DK Shivakumar is not made the Chief Minister, but if Siddaramaiah is not made, there may be a lot of resentment in the party.

Siddaramaiah left for Delhi

Three observers appointed by the Congress returned to Delhi on Monday after holding separate talks with the newly elected MLAs. He will hand over the report to party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Siddaramaiah has left for Delhi, on the other hand Shivakumar says that he has not received any call to come to Delhi. During the CLP meeting on Sunday, the newly elected MLAs left it to Mallikarjun Kharge to choose the next chief minister.

On reaching Delhi, Karnataka Congress in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala said that two resolutions were passed in yesterday’s meeting. A vote of thanks was passed to empower Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to choose the next leader of the Congress Legislative Party. The inspectors discussed with everyone and will submit their report to Mallikarjun Khadge by tonight.
