Karnataka CM Swearing In Ceremony: The newly elected government of Karnataka will take oath today. Siddaramaiah will begin his second term as the 30th Chief Minister of the state. In Karnataka, the results were declared on 13 May, with the Congress winning 135 seats. While BJP got 66 seats and JDS 19 seats. Even after getting the majority, senior leaders of the Congress party had to brainstorm for days on who would be the next CM. Finally it was decided to make Siddaramaiah the CM and DK Sivakumar the Deputy CM.

 

However, before this, Siddaramaiah has held the post of Chief Minister from 2013 to 2018. According to information about today’s swearing-in, along with Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, 25 to 26 MLAs can also take oath as ministers. MLAs loyal to DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah have been inducted into this cabinet. After deciding who would be the face of the CM post, a legislative party meeting was held in Bengaluru. In this meeting, the Congress in-charge of Karnataka proposed to elect Siddaramaiah as the leader of the legislative party. Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar then met Governor Thawarchand Gehlot and claimed to form the government.

 

Siddaramaiah will take oath as Chief Minister today at 12.30 pm. Governor Thawarchand Gehlot has invited Siddaramaiah and DK Sivakumar along with their colleagues to take oath on May 20 at 12.30 pm. The swearing-in ceremony has been organized at Kantirwa Stadium.
