Karma and Consequence: What the Garuda Purana Says About Punishments After Death for Evil Deeds

2981090 NarakGaruda Purana: It is wrong to think that if any person or creature behaves badly with someone or does bad deeds and goes away, no one can harm him. Actually, in Hinduism, it is believed that the punishment for the sins committed by a person or any creature on earth is received after his death.

There is a provision for the sins of every living being in the court of Yamraj, from which no one can escape. This is why people ask to do good deeds and speak the truth. According to Garuda Purana, let us try to know what punishment can be given for the bad deeds done by a person!

Know what kind of punishment you will get according to your bad deeds

A person who steals gold will be born as a worm or an insect. He will also be sent to a hell called ‘Sukar’. If someone steals gems, he will be born in a lowly yoni.

If a person steals grains, he will have to take birth as a rat. If someone steals fruits, he will have to take birth as a monkey.

The person who abandons his wife is unfortunate in his next life. Also, he has to suffer the punishment for his friend’s death by taking birth in the womb of an owl.

If a person creates obstacles in someone’s marriage then he is born in the womb of a mosquito in the next life.

At the same time, if a person promises to give donation to someone and then backs out from his promise, he has to take birth in the womb of a jackal.

If a person falsely slanders someone, he has to take birth as a tortoise in his next life. He also goes to the Taptakumbh hell.

Apart from this, if a person snatches food from someone’s mouth then he is born as a mentally retarded person in the next life.

The person who kills a cow or a foetus has to suffer tortures in a hell called Rodh.
