Kanpur: Fire breaks out in LIC office, documents burnt to ashes

Kanpur, May 21 (Hindustan Times). Due to intense sunlight and temperatures above 40 degrees, fire incidents have started to increase. In this episode, a huge fire broke out in the office of LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India) located in the Bara Police Station area on a holiday on Sunday. Due to the fire, the documents kept in the office were burnt to ashes. The fire brigade team reached on the information of the fire and brought the fire under control after a lot of effort. The fire department says that the fire may have started due to a short circuit.

The office of Life Insurance Corporation of India is located in Matrachaya Complex, near Patel Chowk in the south of Kanpur. People informed the fire department when suddenly clouds of smoke started coming out in the office. The smoke cloud turned into flames before the fire brigade team arrived. Other shopkeepers including the hospital present in the complex tried to douse the fire. On receiving the information, the fire brigade team brought the fire under control with the help of two vehicles, but by then all the documents kept in the office were burnt to ashes.

Chief Fire Officer Deepak Sharma said that the fire has been brought under control and the cause of the fire is being investigated. The fire is suspected to have started due to a short circuit and LIC officials are also reaching the spot to investigate the cause.
