Acharya Samay Sagar Ji Maharaj is the younger brother of Acharya Samadhi-sth Vidya Sagar Ji Maharaj. At 65 years of age, he was born on October 27, 1958, in Velgam, Karnataka, to Mallappaji Jain and Shrimanti Jain. His lay name was Shantinath Jain, and he was the sixth among six siblings.

Initiation into Monkhood

In 1975, he embraced monkhood by taking the Brahmacharya vow, followed by the Jhullak Diksha on December 18, 1975. Subsequently, on October 31, 1978, he undertook the Elik Diksha at Jain Siddha Kshetra Nainagiri Ji, and on March 8, 1980, he took the Jain monk Diksha. His Diksha was conferred by Acharya Gurudev Vidya Sagar Ji Maharaj.
