Joe Biden honors an Indian-American police officer with a gallantry medal

President Joe Biden presented America’s highest gallantry award to an Indian-American police officer. Biden praised the bravery of the Indian. Along with the Indian citizen, 9 other officers were also honored with the Gallantry Award on behalf of Biden.

Sumit Sulan, an Indian-origin officer posted in the New York Police Department, shot dead a criminal who attacked two of his colleagues. Along with this, he also takes care of the safety of the citizens and rescues the old lady along with her brother.

According to a statement released by the White House, a woman called 911 to report domestic violence. The woman said that she and her brother were threatened by her son. The lives of both are in danger. Sulan, Jason Rivera (22) and Wilbert Mora (27) reached the spot to investigate the matter. Here the accused son fired at Jessel and Wilbert, injuring both of them. Thereafter, Sumit, showing bravery, fired from the gun of the accused to save the civilians and both the victims, thus killing the accused. However, later both the injured policemen Jason and Mora also died during treatment.

Biden praised

Biden praised Sumit in the release and said that by showing your agility and bravery, you saved the lives of two people and also eliminated the accused, which is commendable. Also, the whole country is grateful to you for your quick thinking, quick action and courage. Biden honored Sumit at the White House on Wednesday.

Mother also praised the son

Sumit’s mother said that he has done very well. The mother further told that he had shifted from India to America about 15 years ago. Whereas, law enforcement sources have awarded the officer with the name of Super Rookie.
