Jhansi Medical College fire incident: Families of the deceased children will get compensation of so many lakh rupees, CM Yogi announced

Jhansi:  10 children died and five children are in critical condition after a massive fire broke out in the pediatric ward of Jhansi Medical College in UP on Friday night. 47 newborns were admitted to the ward where the fire broke out. CM Yogi has expressed grief over this matter and has announced compensation.

How much compensation will be given?

CM Yogi has directed that the administration should immediately assist Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured.

What instructions did CM Yogi give?

CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over the accident that took place in the NICU of Jhansi Medical College. As soon as the information about the incident was received late on Friday night, the CM sent Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak and Principal Secretary of Health to the spot overnight. The CM kept taking information from the spot every moment throughout the night. He also kept an eye on the news running in the media.

On the instructions of CM Yogi, the assistance of Rs 5 lakh each is being provided to the parents of the newborn children who lost their lives in the incident and Rs 50,000 each to the families of the injured from the CM Relief Fund. The CM has directed the Divisional Commissioner and DIG of Jhansi to submit a report regarding the incident within 12 hours.

Deputy CM said this

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak had reached Jhansi Medical College and said that it was a very unfortunate incident that 10 children have died. The children are being identified with the help of their families. A high-level investigation will be conducted into the incident.

He had said that the first investigation would be done at the government level, which would be done by the health department. The second investigation will be done at the district level, which will be done jointly by the police administration and the fire department. The third investigation will be done by the magistrate. The Deputy CM had also said that we would find out how the incident happened, and why it happened and would take responsibility. After this, no one would be spared. 

The President expressed grief.

President Draupadi Murmu has also expressed grief over this incident. She said, ‘The news of the death of many newborn babies in the accident at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh is extremely heart-rending. May God give strength to the bereaved parents and family members to bear this cruel blow. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured babies.’
