Jagdalpur, May 21 (Hindustan Times). Adding another link to the ongoing cleanliness campaign for the conservation of Dalpat Sagar, two thousand bacterial e-balls have been used for the first time on an experimental basis for the complete eradication of water hyacinth. Parliamentary Secretary Rekhchand Jain, Mayor Safira Sahu, Indrawati Development Authority Vice President Rajeev Sharma, Collector Vijay Dayaram inaugurated the program to make Dalpat Sagar water hyacinth free by placing e-balls on Sunday.

Parliamentary Secretary Rekh Chand Jain said that we should all have a commitment to make the Dalpat Sagar clean, as it is our heritage. It is not only the administration’s job, it is the responsibility of all of us to clean it up. Seeing the enthusiasm that is being seen in public representatives, social organizations along with common people, it seems that we will surely get success. Residents of Bastar including Jagdalpur will also benefit from newly appointed Collector Vijay’s experience in cleaning ponds while working as Municipal Corporation Commissioner in Ambikapur.

Indrawati Development Authority Vice Chairman Rajeev Sharma said that the efforts being made by the administration and various social organizations as well as the general public to make the historical Dalpat Sagar of Bastar clean and beautiful are commendable and this process should be continued. He said that along with Dalpat Sagar, conservation and promotion work of other lakes including Gangamunda, Bhootha Terai is also included in the action plan of our government.

Collector Vijay Dayaram said that Dalpat Sagar is an emotional link of Bastar residents and this link should remain intact. I have experienced from the people of Bastar what the residents of Bastar feel about Dalpat Sagar. For the past several years, the administration as well as the common people have made wholehearted efforts to preserve this historical heritage and it continues even today. Water hyacinth is seen as the biggest obstacle in saving this heritage. To completely destroy water hyacinth, it is necessary to destroy its nutrients present in the water. Bacterial e-balls are being used here for the first time for this purpose. Along with destroying the roots of water hyacinths, the bacteria involved will also balance the pH value and TDS of the water here. It has already been used in Ambikapur ponds, with fruitful results. He expressed hope that along with Dalpat Sagar and Gangamunda, other lakes will also be made clean and pure.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary Rekhchand Jain, Mayor Safira Sahu, Indrawati Development Authority Vice President Rajeev Sharma, Municipal President Kavita Sahu, Collector Vijay Dayaram, District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prakash Sarve, Municipal Corporation Commissioner KS Paikra and public representatives, volunteers were present. Members associated with Yuvadaya, Dalpat Sagar Bachao Abhiyan and Indravati Bachao Abhiyan, State Disaster Response Force and Forest School staff and common citizens contributed.
