Damascus: Israel targeted several areas in central Syria late Sunday night, killing at least four people and injuring 13. The shelling caused fires in several places, state media reported. According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, the Syrian air defense system “resisted the aggressive attack targeting several places in the central region.” The attack damaged a highway in Hama province and after the fire broke out, firefighters were seen struggling to control the fire on Monday morning.

Syria’s state news agency ‘SANA’ quoted Faisal Haidar, head of Masyaf National Hospital in western Hamas province, as saying that at least four dead and 13 injured were brought to the hospital after the attack. It is not yet clear whether these are civilians or terrorists. The injured are being treated in the hospital.
Who was targeted
The British-based war monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported one of the attacks targeted a scientific research center in Masyaf and other sites where “Iranian militias and experts have stayed to develop weapons in Syria.” Local media also reported attacks around the coastal city of Tartus. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.
