Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday arrived in Australia’s Sydney from Papua New Guinea as part of his nearly week-long foreign tour, where he was accorded a warm welcome. People of the Indian community welcomed PM Modi. He also raised slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’ on this occasion.
This is the third and last stop of PM Modi’s three-nation tour that started from Japan. In Papua New Guinea, PM Modi hosted the first Forum of India-Pacific Island Cooperation (FIPIC) summit and met leaders of Pacific island nations to boost bilateral ties. Prime Minister Modi will be on a tour of Australia from 22 to 24 May.
PM Modi to attend Indian community event in Sydney
PM Modi will also participate in the community program of the Indian community to be held in Sydney, Australia. Before reaching Australia, PM Modi had tweeted, ‘I thank Prime Minister James Marape for the warm welcome. Now going to Australia to participate in various programs in Sydney.
He said, “My visit to Papua New Guinea was historic. I will greatly appreciate the affection I have received from the people of this wonderful nation. I also had the opportunity to interact with respected leaders of FIPIC and discuss ways to deepen ties with their respective countries.
Earlier, the Prime Minister was on a tour of Papua New Guinea and Japan.
PM Modi is the first Prime Minister of India to visit Papua New Guinea. Modi reviewed bilateral relations with Prime Minister James Marape of Papua New Guinea. The PM discussed ways to enhance cooperation in areas such as commerce, technology, health care and climate change. The two leaders co-hosted the Forum for Indo-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) summit to boost regional cooperation. Earlier, PM Modi had participated in the G-7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan from May 20 to May 21 and had bilateral meetings with many world leaders there.

In Hiroshima, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that it would be an honor for him to host PM Modi in his country. “Following the warm welcome we received in India earlier this year, I look forward to hosting Prime Minister Modi on his official visit to Australia,” Albanese said in a statement. It is a matter of honor for me.
