A 45-year-old engineer from Andhra Pradesh had to go to jail in Saudi Arabia just because he had made a swastika sign on the gate of his house. The neighbor mistook the symbol to be Hitler’s Nazi symbol, after which he complained to the police and the police arrested the Indian man as well. Now after explaining, the police have understood that this symbol is Swastika, not Nazi symbol, but because Saturday and Sunday are holidays, the Indian engineer will have to unnecessarily spend two days in jail.
An engineer from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh has been working in Saudi Arabia for more than a year. About 15-20 days ago, the engineer had also invited his family to visit Saudi Arabia. Following their religious beliefs, the family erected a swastika symbol on the gate of their flat, which a local Arab neighbor mistook for a Nazi symbol of Hitler. After this the local person complained to the police and said that his life is in danger.
Acting on the complaint, the police arrested the engineer from Andhra. The engineer tried hard to explain that it was not a Nazi symbol but a sacred symbol of Hinduism, but the police officers did not agree and the chemical engineer put the Indian man in jail.
An NRI worker Mujmil Shaikh came forward to help the Indian engineer and explained to the officials and finally the policemen agreed. But since Saturday and Sunday are holidays, the Indian engineer will have to spend two days in jail without committing any crime. Mujmil Sheikh said that this incident happened due to misunderstanding of Sanskrit. I told the officials that the swastika symbol is considered very sacred in Hinduism and it is made on the gate of houses for happiness and prosperity. Nas Shaukat Ali from Kerala, who worked for the Indian community in Saudi Arabia, also helped the Indian engineer.
Let us tell you that the Nazi symbol is black in color and there is a white circle around it. Also this sign is slightly inclined at an angle of 45 degrees. On the other hand, the swastika symbol is square and slightly curved at the edges to form a circular shape. Swastik is made in all auspicious works in Hinduism. On the other hand, the Nazi symbol is considered a symbol of hatred and violence.
