The final match of the second edition of the World Test Championship will be played between Australia and India at The Oval in England from June 7. For the first time, the Indian team will take to the field to play a test match in England without a duke ball. In this match between Australia and India, the Kookaburra ball of the Australian version will be used instead of Duke.
In the year 2021, when the final match of the first season of WTC was played, the match between India and New Zealand was played with Duke ball. For some time there have been complaints about the poor quality of the Duke’s ball by county teams. Keeping these reasons in mind, both the teams have agreed to play with Kookaburra balls instead of Dukes. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has also mentioned this in his statement. Ponting said the ICC has given its consent to use the Kookaburra ball instead of the Dukes for the WTC final.
This match will be Indian top order vs Australian pace attack
Ricky Ponting spoke about the historic match at an ICC event that he thought would be between the Indian top-order and the Australian pace attack. Often we talk about a contest between Indian spinners and Australian batsmen. But all this doesn’t matter much considering the condition of The Oval. Ponting said about the Oval wicket that when I used to play there, the pitch played very well in the early hours of batting. After this, as the game progresses, the spin bowlers start getting some help.
