England’s Richard Illingworth and New Zealand’s Chris Gaffaney have been named as on-field umpires for the World Test Championship final between India and Australia at The Oval in London from June 7. The ICC announced the match officials. The Tests will be played from June 7 to 11 and June 12 will be the reserve day. This will be Chris Gaffaney’s 49th Test match and 59-year-old Illingworth will be umpiring in his 64th Test. Illingworth was also the umpire in the first WTC final played two years earlier. New Zealand defeated India by eight wickets in this final. England’s Richard Kettleborough will officiate in the second consecutive WTC final. Kettleborough is once again featured as a TV umpire. Sri Lanka’s Kumar Dharmasena has been appointed as the fourth umpire. Richie Richardson of the West Indies has been assigned the role of match referee.
