Kumbh Mela 2025: The Akhada Parishad on Wednesday slammed Sikh separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu for trying to create divisions among communities. He has allegedly threatened to target the Maha Kumbh in a video. After three terrorists of the Khalistani Zindabad Force were killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police in Pilibhit on Monday, a video threatening to disrupt the major bathing dates of the Maha Kumbh – January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya) and February 3 (Basant Panchami) surfaced on social media. The voice in this video is said to be that of pro-Khalistan Pannu.
Pannu is the leader of the banned organization Sikh for Justice and has been declared a terrorist by the Government of India. Here in Maha Kumbh Nagar, the president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, Mahant Ravindra Puri said, “If a person named Pannu comes to our Maha Kumbh, he will be beaten and chased away. We have seen hundreds of such mad people.”
We don’t take these lunatics seriously: Ravindra Puri
Mahant Ravindra Puri said, “This is the Maha Kumbh Mela. All the Sikhs and Hindus are one. What Pannu has said about creating division among people is not right. It is the Sikh community that has protected Sanatan Dharma.” The Akhada Parishad president said, “Like we have Naga Sadhus, they (Sikhs) also have Naga Sadhus. Both of them are the same and are soldiers of Sanatan. That is why we do not take these mad people seriously.”
Don’t give importance to what Pannu says
Ravindra Puri said that Pannu’s words should not be given much importance because he always uses such language which creates division in the country and he has always been trying to attack Sanatan Dharma. Mahant Ravindra Puri said, “You must have seen that our three Akharas – Bada Udasi Akhara, Naya Akhara Udasi and Nirmal Akhara are from Punjab where there is Siddha Sadhu Mahatma. Therefore, we do not take such extremists seriously.”
