Shimla, May 18 (Hindustan Times). Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu announced the payment of overtime and night allowance to drivers and conductors of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) here today. He has said that the drivers and conductors are owed Rs 11 crore, which will be paid in two installments within two months. The Chief Minister made this announcement after meeting various employee unions of HRTC who came to meet him on Thursday.
The Chief Minister also announced three percent dearness allowance to HRTC employees and pensioners and early payment of medical reimbursement bills of employees and pensioners.
He said that the economic condition of the state is bad but still the state government is ensuring the welfare of the employees. He said that the state government would extend full support to HRTC to come out of financial losses, but this also required the cooperation of employees.
Sukhu said that the state government is taking various steps to mobilize revenue resources as a result of which the government will gradually discharge all financial liabilities of HRTC.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri thanked the Chief Minister for accepting the demands of HRTC unions. He said that the Chief Minister has an emotional connection with the HRTC employees with the organization due to which the employees have high expectations from Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
The employee associations thanked the Chief Minister for accepting their various demands, including restoration of the old pension scheme for HRTC employees.
