High Court summons Additional Chief Secretary in Higher Education Service Selection Commission recruitment case

Prayagraj, May 25 (Hindustan Times). The Allahabad High Court has issued summons to the Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Service Selection Commission in connection with the recruitment of 917 assistant professors by the Higher Education Service Selection Commission.

However, the court has given an opportunity that if the government decides on the matter and gives it on affidavit, it will be exempted from summons. But if this does not happen, the Additional Chief Secretary will have to be present in the next hearing to be held on May 30. Justice Ajit Kumar gave this order while hearing the petition of Mahendra Singh and three others.

Earlier, the court had expressed displeasure at the UP government’s attitude during the hearing. The court said that even after the May 2 order, the government has not done anything. What happened between May 16 and May 22. This was also not clarified. It was said that the former Additional Chief Secretary has been transferred. On May 22, new Additional Chief Secretary ML Aggarwal took charge.

The court said that if the UP government does not take a concrete decision in this matter and submit an affidavit before the court, the Additional Chief Secretary should be present in the next hearing. The court in its order dated May 2 had given a clear order to complete the recruitment by completing the quorum of the Higher Education Service Selection Commission, but the UP government has not yet taken any concrete decision on the matter. Due to which the recruitment process has stopped. Written test of candidates is done, interview is going to be held. The interview has been stopped due to lack of quorum. The court has given several opportunities to the UP government for this.
