Having an illicit relationship with a daughter? When the wife asked, the mad husband killed them both, the decision came

Ahmedabad Court: You will be surprised but one such case has come up. In which the court has sentenced the father to life imprisonment. A local court has sentenced a husband to life imprisonment for the crime of killing his wife and daughter six and a half years ago in Bavla of Ahmedabad district. The husband killed both of them due to a quarrel over their relationship with their daughter. In this case, the local police conducted a quick investigation and gathered evidence, the husband who initially confessed to the murder filed a protest in court, but based on strong evidence, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment.

A village court in Ahmedabad district has sentenced a father to life imprisonment for brutally killing his wife and daughter. In 2016, Devram Meghwal, a resident of Shantinagar Society in Bawlani, attacked his wife and daughter with a knife. After this, the clothes worn were also burnt to destroy the evidence. A rural court in Ahmedabad district sentenced him to life imprisonment for double murder and destruction of evidence. Sentencing the accused to life imprisonment, the court said that the serious crime of killing his own wife and daughter has been proved against the accused. In such a situation, no pardon can be granted for this heinous crime. After this the court announced life imprisonment.

Killed after quarrel with wife
Additional District and Sessions Judge Sagar Prem Shankar in the District Court of Ahmedabad Rural said in his decision that there can be no mercy for such a serious and anti-social crime. Devram Meghwal, originally from Rajasthan’s Pali district, lived in a rented house with his wife Lilaben and daughter Komal. Wife Lilaben suspected her husband of having an affair with her daughter. One day when the wife questioned Devram, there was a quarrel between the two. While the son was going to Rajasthan, Devram slit the throat of his first wife Lilaben while she was sleeping and stabbed her to death. Devram killed the daughter who woke up after hearing the noise. After committing two murders during the night, Devram tried to destroy the evidence and burnt the blood-stained clothes.

Surrendered before the police
After killing his wife and daughter, Devram Meghwal surrendered before Gram Rakshak Dal constable Ramesh Nayak at around 1 am. The bodies of 35-year-old Leelaben and her 15-year-old daughter were found lying in the house when village guard constables went to the spot. Nayak informed the police. After which Bavla police reached the spot of the incident and arrested Devram and took legal action.

The constable filed a complaint
The village guard constable has lodged a complaint at Bavla police station. In which a case was registered against Devram Meghwal under IPC 302 and 302 GP Act. After collecting all the evidence, the police filed a charge sheet in the court on 13 January 2017. After a lengthy hearing, the court reserved judgment in the matter last year, which concluded on April 18, 2022. A village court in Ahmedabad delivered its verdict on May 10, 2023, and sentenced Devaram to life imprisonment for killing her husband and daughter. Devram had one son and three daughters. Two daughters were studying at their maternal home. Therefore, on the day of the incident, Balla went to Rajasthan.
