PM Kisan Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan Yojana) is a government scheme through which all small and marginal farmers get up to Rs 6,000 per year as minimum income support. Lakhs and crores of farmers have benefited under this scheme. PM Kisan Yojana came into force on 1 December 2018. It was launched by the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Benefits of the PM Kisan Scheme
Under PM Kisan Yojana, income support of Rs 6000 per year is provided to all eligible farmer families across the country in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 every four months. The scheme defines family as a husband, wife, and minor children. An amount of Rs 2,000 is directly transferred to the bank accounts of the farmers/farmer’s families.
Who is eligible for PM Kisan Yojana?
– Under this scheme, landholder farmer families with cultivable land can apply in their own name.
Farmers in both urban and rural areas.
Small and marginal farmer families.
Who is not eligible for PM Kisan Yojana?
Institutional landlord.
Present or retired officers and employees of State/Central Government as well as Public Sector Undertakings and Government Autonomous Bodies.
– Beneficiaries of high economic status are not eligible, who pay income tax.
Farmer families holding constitutional posts.
– Professionals like doctors, engineers, and lawyers.
Retired pensioners with monthly pension above Rs.10,000.
How to register for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi?
Farmers have to approach the local revenue officer (patwari) or a nodal officer (designated by the state government). Common Service Centers (CSCs) have also been authorized to register farmers for the scheme on payment of a fee.
Kisan Corner
There is a section named ‘Kisan Corner’ on the official website of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana – pmkisan.gov.in. Farmers can get themselves registered through the Farmers Corner in the portal. They can also edit the name in the PM-Kisan database and know the status of their payment.
Required Documents
– Aadhaar is mandatory.
– Citizenship certificates, land papers, and bank account details will have to be submitted to the concerned authorities.
