At the time of Azadi-e-Hindustan, a family settled in Jodhpur went to Pakistan and then to England. Today a member of the next generation of this family of Indian origin is the Deputy Foreign Secretary of Britain. Lord Tariq Ahmed, who reached Jodhpur on a 4-day tour of India, says that it is a matter of great pride that before 1947 India was ruled by the British from the London office. Today the same office is called the India Office, and I sit in it today. Apart from this, he also talked about the concerns arising out of the change in visa rules in England.

This is the office from where the British ruled India, today this is my office

Lord Tariq Ahmed, the Jagirdar of Wimbledon, has a maternal residence in Jodhpur and has kept the peacock in his insignia as a Jagirdar in reference to the peacock here. Lord Tariq Ahmed, who first reached Jodhpur during his visit to India, said in a special conversation at Umaid Singh Palace, ‘My office is called the India Office and this is the office from where the British ruled India.’ But now in a generation a lot has changed.”

There was a special discussion on the issue of visa.

Lord Tariq Ahmed while talking on the issue of visa said that only minor changes have been made to prevent illegal immigration, no change has been made in the rules for the rest of the students. Elaborating on this, he said that no rules have been changed for graduate students.

Most of the students in UK are from India

The rule has changed for those coming for research and PhD for only one year, because there are some people in this category who are not able to complete the course. Lord Tariq Ahmed said that the UK also benefits from legal immigration and that the UK wants more students to come to their country. He also said that India has the largest number of students in Britain today.

Always ready to give UK visa to people thinking about education

He also said that, as part of the government, we have a responsibility to address any concerns about visa rules directly. He assured that Britain will always be a country where people who think about their education will continue to come, which will benefit both Britain and their country.
