Gold and silver remain soft for the third consecutive week on strengthening of the dollar

The country’s leading commodity derivatives exchange MCX recorded a total turnover of Rs 4,00,324.91 crore in various commodity futures, options and index futures in 50,28,970 trades between May 19 and May 25, of which commodity futures accounted for Rs 1. 18,431.9 crore and the share of options was Rs 281569.31 crore.

In precious metals futures, gold and silver saw a volume of 9,69,543 trades on MCX worth Rs 71,733.58 crore during the week under review. In gold futures, MCX gold June futures started the week at Rs 59,766 per 10 grams, touched a high of Rs 60,490 and a low of Rs 59,363 during the week, ending the week down by Rs 263 at Rs. In non-ferrous metals futures, there was a turnover of 1,36,486 deals worth Rs 14,085.63 crore on MCX during the week. Copper futures declined by Rs 23.90 to Rs 719.80 at Rs 694.60, while the aluminum contract fell by Rs 1.75 to Rs 207.10 and lead by Rs 1.15 at Rs 182. The May contract of Zinc fell by Rs 19.80 to Rs 203. In mini futures, aluminium-mini May futures declined by Rs 3.35 to Rs 205.70, Sisu-mini May futures by Rs 2 at Rs 181.65 and zinc-mini May futures by Rs 20.65. Rs.202.85. Energy segment futures traded at 8,66,549 deals worth Rs 32,452.45 crore on MCX during the week. Crude oil June futures opened the week at Rs 6,023 per barrel, touched a day’s high of Rs 6,190 and a low of Rs 5,873 during the week, ending the week down Rs 11 at Rs 5,946, while Crude oil- Mini June futures fell by Rs.8 to close at Rs.950 at Rs.5. Natural gas May futures opened at Rs 214 per 1 mmBtu, down Rs 21.80 at Rs 190.90, and Natural gas-mini May futures declined Rs 21.8 to Rs 190.9. Agricultural commodities futures trading on MCX saw a turnover of Rs 160.24 crore during the week.
