The team of Chennai Super Kings has become the first finalist of IPL 2023. CSK, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in Qualifier-1 on 23 May to seal their place in the final. In the last season i.e. IPL 2022, Chennai team was at number 9 in the points table. Meanwhile, former Indian player and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly praised MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

Chennai Super Kings qualified for the playoffs by winning 8 out of 14 matches of the league under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In the league stage, one match of the team ended in a draw. After this, the team played Qualifier-1 against Gujarat Titans and got the ticket for the final by making number two position in the points table.

Talking about Dhoni’s captaincy, Sourav Ganguly said that the stalwart has shown how big matches can be won. Dhoni and his team have done exceptionally well this season. Dhoni has shown amazing in his captaincy.

From Chennai, young players like Matisha Pathirana, Mahish Tishna, Shivam Dubey and Tushar Deshpande performed brilliantly. Mahendra Singh Dhoni himself also appeared in good rhythm. With the bat, Dhoni scored 104 runs in 11 innings at an average of 34.67 and a strike rate of 185.71. In which his high score was 32 not out. So far 10 sixes have come out of Dhoni’s bat in the season.

Apart from Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings, Sourav Ganguly praised the young players who performed brilliantly this season. Dada said that Rinku Singh played well, Dhruv Jurel played well and Yashasvi Jaiswal also played well. Jitesh Sharma did well for Punjab Kings and Tilak Verma and Suryakumar Yadav did well for Mumbai. IPL is a big tournament and he has done exceptionally well.
