Hiroshima: PM Modi meets Volodymyr Zelensky: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to Hiroshima, Japan to attend the G-7 summit. Meanwhile, on Saturday (May 20) another bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took place on the sidelines of the G-7 summit in Hiroshima.
Meanwhile, PM Modi told Zelensky on the Russia-Ukraine war that it is an issue of human values for us. India and we as individuals have to do what we can to solve this. This is the first meeting between the two leaders after the Ukraine-Russia war that began in February last year.
What did PM Modi say
During the meeting with Zelensky, PM Modi said that Ukraine war is a big issue in the world. I don’t see this as just an issue of economy or politics. For me it is a human issue. India and I will do what we can to settle the war.
PM Modi’s program
According to news agency PTI, the meeting between PM Modi and Ukraine’s President Zelensky took place after a meeting between senior diplomats of the two countries. It may be noted that Ukraine’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Emin Japarova had visited India last month.
In fact, PM Modi left for Hiroshima on Friday (May 19) on a six-day tour of three countries (Japan, Papua New Guinea and Australia). He will attend three sessions of the G7 summit here. Along with this, he will hold bilateral meeting with many world leaders here.
What did Ukraine say?
Ukrainian President Zelensky is also here at the invitation of Japan to attend the G7 summit, which currently chairs the powerful grouping. Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said Zelensky was attending the summit. He said that decisions would be taken on important issues, in which case their presence would be necessary to protect their interests.
