Devotees across the country including Bihar-Jharkhand offered prayers to the setting sun on Thursday. The second prayer will be offered to the rising sun on Friday morning. With this, the four-day Chhath festival will come to an end. Many leaders including Nitish Kumar, Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, Hemant Soren, and Mamta Banerjee performed the rituals of Chhath Puja. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Minister JP Nadda on Thursday took a steamer ride on the Ganga river to witness the Chhath festival at the ghats in Patna. Nadda arrived here in the afternoon to witness Chhath Puja, the most popular festival in the state. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal, and other NDA leaders were also present with Kumar and Nadda during the steamer ride. Nitish Kumar participated in the Chhath Puja and offered prayers to the setting sun at his official residence. Later, he took a steamer ride along with BJP national president Nadda.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and former deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav also reached the Ganga Ghat in Patna. Lalu Yadav said on Chhath Puja that we worship Lord Surya. The setting sun is worshipped. Lakhs of people come to the banks of the Ganga Ghat to celebrate it. He also congratulated the devotees.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee participated in the Sandhya Puja as part of the Chhath Puja celebrations at Doi Ghat in Kolkata. She said, “Wishing you all a very happy Chhath Puja on behalf of the Bengal government and the people of Bengal.” She said that Chhath Puja is celebrated here every year.

Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal performed the rituals of Chhath Puja on the third day of Chhath Puja. During this, Kejriwal said that may Chhathi Maiya give you all lots of happiness and blessings. I had just come to my assembly to worship Chhathi Maiya. I worshipped with everyone. The Delhi government has organized Chhath Puja at more than 1000 places in Delhi. Before our government was formed, it used to be organized at 200-250 places. But for the convenience of the public, we have organized the program at many places in Delhi and I am very happy.

Bhojpuri actor-singer and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari also performed Chhath Puja in Delhi. He offered prayers to the setting sun. He greeted the people on this occasion. Manoj Tiwari said on Twitter that this year his wife is performing Chhath Puja under the supervision of his mother.
