Firozabad: Anti-social elements damage Shivalinga, anger among villagers

Firozabad: A Shivalinga installed in an ancient temple in Dakshina Thana area was damaged by anti-social elements. After receiving the information on Friday, there is anger among the villagers. Assuring action against criminals, the police have installed a new Shivling.

An ancient temple near Himayupur Puliya in the police station area has a Shivlinga with idols of deities. Local people come to worship at the temple every day. Locals say that when they reached the temple on Friday morning as usual, they found the Shivlinga damaged. On coming to know about this, a crowd of people gathered in the temple premises and expressed their anger over the incident. The office-bearers of Hindu organizations also reached the spot.

As soon as the information was received, the police station also reached the spot and pacified the people. People say that to spoil the atmosphere of the area, people damaged the Shivling on Thursday night when they got an opportunity. Police should identify such people and take strict action against them. The police pacified the angry crowd and assured strict action against the culprits by identifying them and installing a new Shivlinga.

Kamlesh Kumar of Nyayakshetra Nagar said that the Shivling installed in the temple has been damaged. A new Shiv Linga is being installed in the temple. The CCTV cameras installed around the temple are being checked. The culprits will be identified and further action will be taken, so that such incidents do not recur.
