Fiji-Palau honored PM Narendra Modi with their country’s highest honor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday attended the Forum for India Pacific Island Cooperation (FIPIC) meeting held in Papua New Guinea. Meanwhile, the Republic of Palau and Fiji have given their country’s highest award to Modi. Palau has given the Ibakal Award to the Prime Minister and Fiji has awarded the ‘Companion of the Order of Fiji’.

Earlier in the FIPIC meeting, James Marape, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, said, ‘India is the leader of the global south ie developing and poor countries. We are all victims of the power game of the developed countries. Let us inform that yesterday James Marape welcomed PM Modi by touching his feet. After the beating, PM Modi also targeted the developed countries without naming them. He said, ‘Corona has had the biggest impact on the Global South ie the developing and poor countries of the world.

 

PM Modi held bilateral talks with James Marape, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea. Modi had said that cooperation between the two countries will be increased in health, skill development, investment and IT sector. Both the leaders released the Tok Pisin version of the Tamil book ‘Thirukural’. Tok Pisin is the language of Papua New Guinea. PM Modi also met the Governor General of Papua New Guinea, Bob Dade.
