London, 27 May (Hindustan). The Indian men’s hockey team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Olympic champions Belgium in their FIH Men’s Hockey Pro League tie on Friday. The Indian team will take on Great Britain, Netherlands, Argentina and Belgium in the next two weeks.

Belgium, ranked second in the world, took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute through Thibeu Stockbrokes, but seven minutes later Mandeep Singh equalized for India.

However, the Indian defense faltered in the closing minutes of the match, during which the Indians conceded several penalty corners, one of which was converted by Nelson Onana in the 60th minute to give his side a 2–1 victory.

India will take on hosts Great Britain in their second match of the Europe leg of the Pro League here on Saturday.
