In this context, a significant move is being made by the government. The Financial Department has sought suggestions from various ministries and government think tanks on issues related to cash crops such as tea and tobacco. An official from the government confirmed this information.

Moreover, it has been mentioned that the ministry has requested separate suggestions for bills related to cash crops like tea, coffee, spices, rubber, and tobacco. The purpose of these bills is to promote the cash crop industry and create a conducive environment for businesses by fostering growth and support. This is expected to aid in boosting business and providing considerable benefits to farmers.

After seeking advice, the Financial Department will send the proposals for approval to the Central Cabinet. The proposed bills are titled as the Spice Bill, Rubber Bill, Coffee Bill, Tea Bill, and Tobacco Board Bill. These bills have been suggested by the government and will soon be presented to the government for consideration.

Additionally, the Financial Department had proposed introducing new laws in 2022 to repeal decades-old laws in these sectors and create a favorable environment for their development and business growth. The official mentioned that before this, the NITI Aayog had raised certain issues with the ministry regarding these five bills. However, all these issues have now been resolved. The Ministry of Finance had also conducted counseling sessions for stakeholders to address their concerns and alleviate worries.
