Chitrakoot, May 19 (Hindustan Times). On the new moon day of Jyeshtha month, despite the scorching heat, more than five lakh devotees fulfilled their desire to have a darshan of Lord Kamatanath by taking a holy bath in the Mandakini river and circumambulating Panchkoshiya. Seeing the huge crowd of devotees at the fair, the district administrations of Chitrakoot and Satna were busy making elaborate security arrangements in the fair area.
Lakhs of devotees from all over the country flocked to Tapobhumi Chitrakoot, known as the world famous Puranic pilgrimage site, on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month. Devotees thronged Ramghat in Mandakini from early morning to take holy bath. Lakhs of devotees took a dip in Mandakini and anointed the water of Swami Mat Gajendranath established by Lord Brahma and performed Panchkosi Parikrama after seeing Lord Kamatanath to fulfill their wishes.
After this visit the other famous mythological pilgrimage places of Dharmanagari Chitrakoot Janakikund, Anusuya Ashram, Hanuman Dhara, Bharatkoop etc. On the instructions of District Magistrate Abhishek Anand and Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla, Additional District Magistrate Kunwar Bahadur Singh and Additional Superintendent of Police Chakrapani Tripathi etc., police and administrative officials visited the fair area and reviewed the arrangements. Special instructions were given to ensure that there is no shortage of drinking water at any place.
Bharat Sharandas Maharaj, chief priest of Kamtanath ancient Mukhar Bind explained the importance of Amavasya of Jyeshtha month and said that Chitrakoot is the holiest place. Prabhu Sriram himself chose Chitrakoot as his entertainment. With the blessings of Lord Shri Ram, Chitrakoot Giri was blessed with fulfillment of wishes. Bathing in Mandakini and circumambulating Kamadgiri fulfills all one’s desires. On the other hand, on the new moon day of the Jyeshtha month, women circumambulated the banyan tree with full rituals and wished for the long life of their husbands and sons. Chief social worker of Chitrakoot and district president of BJP Mahila Morcha, Divya Tripathi explained the importance of worship and said that on Amavasya, worshiping banyan tree and circumambulating it 108 times gives longevity to son and husband.
