Eye Flu treatment: From Delhi to Bihar and from Gujarat to Maharashtra, people are roaming around with red eyes. Monsoon has come early this time in all these states and as if it has come with the intention of staying for a long time. Water filled everywhere and humidity and moisture in the environment all the time are the best opportunities for the spread of viruses and bacteria. So this time the eye flu has put red threads in people’s eyes. In medical language, this disease of red eyes is called conjunctivitis, some people also call it pink eye or eye flu.

Delhi suffering from I flu

From floodwaters to tears in the eyes, this time the monsoon has created such havoc that conjunctivitis, a disease of red eyes, has spread badly.
Daily 100 patients with complaints of eye flu are coming to the OPD of AIIMS, Delhi. Even in private eye hospitals, 40 to 50 patients are reaching everyday suffering from conjunctivitis.

In July last year, 600 cases of conjunctivitis were reported in a private eye hospital in Delhi. This time till now in July itself more than 1200 patients have reached for treatment. According to Dr. Sameer Sood, director of Sharp Sight Center, conjunctivitis starts with irritation in the white part of the eyes. Monsoon, humidity, moisture and watery environment help this eye flu to spread rapidly. Although the patient of this disease recovers in five to seven days, but this time can be very troublesome. But patients should not treat on their own wish. The main reason for this is that there are three major causes of eye flu and treatment can be done according to the reasons.

Symptom

There is burning sensation in the eyes. Water started coming. If there is pain in the eyes and they become red, then understand that you have got an infection. This infection spreads very quickly from one patient to another – so you need to avoid it very much. Eye drops are given according to the disease like allergy, viral infection or bacterial infection. Medicines are also given to patients who need antibiotics.

How to defend?

Like coronavirus, in this disease also isolation is necessary for the patient so that it does not spread to others. According to ophthalmologist Dr. Anurag Wahi, the patient should wear dark glasses. This can have two advantages. The first advantage is that the patient will avoid touching his eyes again and again. Another advantage would be that such patients are photosensitive, due to which they may have trouble with bright light. So black glasses will save from bright light also. Keep washing eyes with clean water and clean hands frequently with soap or sanitizer. Do not share your personal things like towel, pillow, handkerchief, spectacles etc. with anyone. Do not touch things repeatedly – such as door handles, tables, etc. – Infection from your hands can remain on any surface and from there the infection can reach others.

Those people who have not got this disease should also avoid going in the crowd. Ordinary spectacles or sunglasses of zero power should be worn in public places or crowded places. So that you do not touch your eyes again and again. If children have this disease, they should not be sent to school. This disease does not spread by looking into the eyes of the patient. Although this disease is cured in 5-7 days, but in some patients the infection can reach the pupil of the eye by increasing from the white part of the eye, such cases can be dangerous.
