Amid low supply and demand in the markets due to rains, the prices of mustard, soybean, groundnut oil-oilseeds, crude palm oil (CPO), and palm olein and cottonseed oil closed strong in the country’s oil-oilseeds markets on Friday. There is improvement in the Malaysia Exchange. Whereas, there are ups and downs in the Chicago Exchange. Sources said that small crushing mill owners are unable to crush mustard and suffer losses. Only the big brands of Kachi Ghani are buying mustard at a high price and today they have increased the price of mustard by Rs. 50 per quintal.
Cottonseed stock is running out
He said that the stock of cottonseed is getting exhausted and this time due to rains, the cottonseed crop will be delayed by 10-15 days. Mill owners of Haryana have today bought cottonseed from South India at the rate of Rs 5,100 per quintal (record price) which was Rs 4,850 per quintal a week ago. Sources said that soybeans are already being sold at a price much below the minimum support price (MSP). On the other hand, farmers are expecting the market price of two years ago i.e. Rs 6,000 per quintal. The new MSP of soybean is Rs 4,892 per quintal and at present, even at Rs 4,200-4,300 per quintal, the buying is low. The government will have to see that soybean farmers get at least the MSP price.
