Earthquake tremors in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday night, panic among people

Earthquake tremors were felt in Melbourne city of Australia on Sunday night. According to geologists, a 3.8 magnitude tremor was felt in Melbourne and it was the second strongest earthquake in its 120-year history. More than 22000 people contacted the concerned agency to get information about the earthquake.

Earthquake tremors were felt for five to ten seconds. People also felt tremors in the Australian island state of Hobart. During this, people also made the video of the earthquake experience viral. Earlier in 2021, an earthquake of magnitude 5.9 was felt in the state of Victoria in which the city of Melbourne is located.

 

 

After feeling the earth shaking on Sunday night, people checked their homes as well as offices and shops on Monday morning. However, the Melbourne Building Code mandates that the building be strong enough to withstand a 6.5 to 7 magnitude earthquake. A special team is being sent by the state government to find out if there are any cracks in the buildings.

Meanwhile, earthquake tremors were also felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan and three children were injured. In the earthquake that occurred at 10 am on Sunday, tremors of 6 on the Richter scale were felt at some places. The epicenter of the earthquake was on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
