Drugs worth Rs 7 crore seized in Hyderabad, two passengers arrested from airport

Hyderabad: Drugs worth about Rs 7 crore have been recovered in Telangana’s capital Hyderabad. According to the information, DRI officials have seized 7.096 kg of marijuana (a type of narcotic substance) from two Indian passengers coming from Bangkok, which is estimated to be worth Rs 7 crore. DRI said that a green substance in lumpy form was recovered from all 13 packets. Drugs were confirmed in the investigation.

Drugs were hidden inside chocolate packets.

 DRI has said that the passengers were stopped on Thursday and when their luggage was searched, 13 packets were found inside chocolate packets. A green substance was recovered from all 13 packets and when tested with a ‘field test kit’, it was found to be marijuana. The packets contained 7.096 kg of marijuana which has been seized. The passengers were arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and sent to judicial custody. 

Drugs were recovered earlier also.

Earlier, Telangana police had recovered 150 grams of MDMA drugs and arrested a man for selling drugs, police officials said. Acting on credible information, Chanda Nagar police raided a house and arrested a man for selling drugs for easy money. The arrested person has been identified as Krishna Ram, a native of Rajasthan. 

Giving details of the raid, Chanda Nagar police station sub-inspector Raghu said, “Based on reliable information, we conducted a raid near Thimappa House No. 56 and found 150 grams of MDMA drugs in the possession of Krishna Ram (28).”
