Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament building today. 19 main opposition forces including Congress, NCP, Aam Aadmi Party, JDU, RJD, Trinamool Congress boycotted the programme. Their representatives also did not attend the ceremony. Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM party has also decided to boycott the event. The opposition forces demanded that the new Parliament building be inaugurated not by the Prime Minister but by the President. Although the special event during this time was that PM Modi was inaugurating but every moment he was seen with the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

An application was filed in the Supreme Court in this matter

A petition was also filed in the Supreme Court in this matter, which was dismissed. On the other hand, Owaisi demanded that if the inauguration is not done by the President, then the inauguration should not be done by the Prime Minister and the inauguration should be done directly by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Amidst all these discussions, the inauguration finally took place, but one thing caught everyone’s attention. Prime Minister Modi came alone to inaugurate the new Parliament building, but then Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also accompanied him from the puja-havan to taking Sengol and then inaugurating the Parliament building. Perhaps because of all these controversies, PM Modi has decided to accompany the Lok Sabha Speaker in most of the events. Even while inaugurating Sengol, PM Modi later called Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
