Dhoni stopped the match, was the umpire supporting? Brad Hogg raised the question

[ad_1]

Chennai Super Kings have made it to the finals of IPL 2023. Dhoni & Co. had defeated Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier. However, there was a controversy in this match which is raising questions on Dhoni. Not only Dhoni, the former Australian cricketer has also raised questions on the umpires.

Brad Hogg questioned Dhoni and the umpires on Twitter. He believes that when Dhoni was talking to the umpires for 4 minutes, the umpires were joking with him. Whereas he should have handled the situation. This is not correct.

Why was the match stopped for 4 minutes

The match was stopped 4 minutes before the 16th over of Gujarat’s innings as Dhoni was talking to the umpire. The issue was that the umpires had stopped fast bowler Pathirana from bowling. Pathira walked off the field before the over. According to the rules, no player can bowl directly after the break. The number of minutes a player is out, he has to field for that long, only then he can bowl.

Dhoni deliberately stopped the match?

It is now being said that Dhoni spoke to the umpires at the same time as Pathira was dismissed and finally when the time ran out, Pathira was bowled. After this he bowled well and took two wickets and Chennai made it to the final of IPL for the 10th time.

Now the question is whether the umpires did wrong in this case? Or did Dhoni take advantage of the rules? However, according to the rules, if a player intentionally wastes time, then a penalty of 5 runs is imposed on him. Whether this rule applies here or not is a big question. Therefore, Gujarat Titans also did not register any objection on this issue.
