DGP Prashant Kumar gave strict instructions to the police regarding Dhanteras, Diwali and Chhath Puja, ‘Show seriousness on small information’

Today, the DGP has given strict instructions to the UP Police regarding upcoming festivals like Dhanteras, Deepawali, Bhaiya Dooj, Govardhan, and Chhath Puja. The DGP has told the policemen that in view of the festivals, there is a lot of crowd in the bullion markets, so strong security arrangements should be made in these areas. An adequate number of policemen should be deployed here. Anti-Romeo Squad should also be kept active in the markets.

Police will be in civil dress.

Apart from this, it was said that police in civil dress should be deployed in crowded areas. Senior officers should do patrolling in maximum numbers. Given the incidents that happened in the past, hot spots should be identified and arrangements for patrolling and 112 vehicles should be made. At the same time, senior officers and station in-charges should be taken with utmost seriousness even the smallest information and the dispute should be resolved by reaching the spot. A team of reserve police has also been formed in the district as QRT and the availability of all riot control equipment should be ensured with them.

There will be checking of firecracker shops.

The list of license holders of explosive materials or firecracker sellers should be updated police station-wise. These shops should be checked with the help of sub-district magistrates, deputy superintendent of police, and fire brigade officials. It was also said that explosive shops should be set up away from crowded places. Adequate fire extinguishing equipment should be kept at firecracker shops.

These instructions were also given.

  • Apart from this, discussions should be held with respectable citizens at police station levels.
  • Keep a special watch on bus stations, railway stations, shopping malls, and crowded public places.
  • The names of the concerned officials and important numbers should be publicized.
  • A poster checking campaign should be conducted around religious places.
  • Anti-social elements should be kept under surveillance in a listed manner.
  • Appropriate arrangements should be made in the access control room regarding Ayodhya Deepotsav.
  • Arrangements for diversion and parking should be ensured along with the deployment of pickets at important places.
  • Prepare SOP for patrolling in the Saryu River.
  • AS check team and BDS team should check the VIP and VVIP places participating in Deepotsav.
  • Water police divers and flood relief teams should be deployed along with lighting at the ghats.
  • Make alternate lighting arrangements at the ghats and the event venue.
  • All social media platforms should be monitored.
