For the last one year, India is buying crude oil from Russia on a large scale and making petrol diesel from it and exporting it to Europe.
EU foreign and security policy chief Joseph Borrell has objected to India’s trade. Joseph says that the European Union should take action against India for selling Russia’s petrol diesel in Europe. Talking to the media, he said that we knew that India is buying oil from Russia on a large scale and making petrol and diesel from it and selling it to Europe. Action needs to be taken against this. If Russian oil enters Europe indirectly in the form of petrol and diesel, it is certainly a violation of sanctions. For this, the members of the European Union have to take a decision.
Borrell said this ahead of a meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. However, Jaishankar replied that according to my understanding of EU regulations, if Russian crude is refined in other countries, it cannot be considered Russian oil.
Notably, Indian refineries exported around 2.8 million barrels per day of petroleum products to Europe between December and April. Which is 1.70 lakh barrels per day more than last year.
