Ahmedabad, May 23 (Hindustan). A hearing was held in the metro court of Ahmedabad on Tuesday in a defamation case related to tarnishing the image of Gujarat University regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sanjay Singh are accused in this case. Both were summoned earlier but both failed to appear, another summons has been issued during the hearing on Tuesday.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been fined for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree, but now his troubles are mounting again. This time Gujarat University has filed a case against Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh for maligning the image of the university. During the hearing of the same case, summons have been issued to both of them to appear in the Ahmedabad Metro Court on June 7.
Gujarat University’s lawyer Amit Nayak said it appears that the previous summons was not very clear, so the judge ordered fresh summons to be issued to both the accused along with the copy of the complaint. Now the next hearing will be held on June 7.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh were on April 15 charged by an Ahmedabad court with criminal defamation against Gujarat University for making sarcastic and defamatory statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree. Summons were issued. on the complaint of Ahmedabad Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jayesh Chowtia’s court on Tuesday issued an order to issue summons against both Aam Aadmi Party leaders. Based on the complaint of Piyush Patel of Gujarat University, the court had issued a summons to file a prima facie case against Kejriwal under Section 500 (defamation) of the IPC. The court also ordered the removal of the word Chief Minister from Kejriwal’s name in the title of the case. The court said that he had made this statement in private. Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh’s comments came after the Gujarat High Court ordered the Chief Information Commissioner to ask Gujarat University to provide information about PM Narendra Modi’s degree. According to the complainant, both had made derogatory statements in press conferences and on their Twitter handles targeting the university over PM Modi’s degree. According to the complainant, his comments targeting Gujarat University are defamatory and bring down the reputation of an institution that has established its name among the public.
