Kathua: Kathua Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Manhas on Monday presided over a meeting of officials concerned to assess the progress achieved under PHE sector including implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in the district.
Earlier Superintending Engineer PHE Gramin Circle Bodh Raj apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the latest physical and financial progress of works on retrofitting and augmentation of water supply schemes being run under Jal Jeevan Mission in the district. Drinking water connections and other drinking water facilities including bore wells and tube wells are being installed. The DC directed all concerned to speed up the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission with determination on early completion of all 299 schemes under JJM so as to fulfill the objective of Har Ghar Nal Se Jal.
The DC also requested the concerned DFOs to expedite forest clearance cases after compliance with all codal formalities and existing rules where Jal Jeevan Mission schemes are being implemented. The DC emphasized the need for a better prepared pipe layout plan that would ensure that pipes are laid on state land in a manner that avoids the need for frequent lifting or moving of pipes and also prevents disruption of water supply. . While reviewing the physical and financial progress of the PHE sector schemes, the DC directed to maintain timelines to saturate all components besides stressing on early removal of bottlenecks for timely completion of all works. The meeting was attended by XEN PHE Vikram Dogra, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh and Irrigation, Flood Control Engineers and other concerned officials.
