Cow smugglers clash with police again, one miscreant injured

Haridwar, May 21 (Hindustan). As part of the ongoing drive by the police against cow smugglers in Dharmanagari, an encounter took place between the police and cow smugglers in the fields of Kasampur Buddhaheadi of Pathari police station late on Saturday night. In which one miscreant was injured by a bullet in the leg.

The miscreant who was injured in the encounter in Police Station Pathri area has been admitted to the district hospital while combing is going on to find the miscreants. In the entire district, the police checked all major roads from the district border and searched the vehicles.

Last Saturday midnight, the police received a tip-off in the Pathri police station area that a murder was being planned inside the forest. Police and CIU team reached the spot and started investigation. Just then, two people were seen preparing to slaughter the cow. As soon as the police team started the siege, the miscreants panicked and opened fire on the police.

The police also retaliated, shooting the miscreant in the leg. The injured miscreant has been identified as Jabbar. The injured miscreant was admitted to the district hospital. When a miscreant took advantage of the opportunity to escape, a combing was launched to trace him.

On being informed, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh deployed several teams of Haridwar Police to arrest the miscreants and reached the spot along with subordinate officers to inquire into the matter. He said that a special drive against cow smugglers is being conducted in Haridwar, in which many cow smugglers have surrendered, while the police are working continuously to arrest many. This is the third encounter of the police with cow smugglers in the last fortnight.
