Damascus: The conflict continues in Syria even after the armed rebels forcefully took over power. In the latest incident, there has been a fierce clash between Assad supporters and the armed rebels who are in power. 6 fighters have died in this. It is being told that six Islamic fighters were killed and many others were injured on Wednesday in a conflict between the Islamists who took over power and the supporters of the previous government led by the country’s ousted President Bashar al-Assad.
This is a big setback for the Islamic rebels after seizing power. This information was given by the Britain-based war monitoring organization. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that these fighters of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham or HTS were killed while trying to arrest a person who was an official in the previous Assad government. This former official is accused of issuing death sentences and arbitrary decisions against thousands of prisoners.
Fighters killed in retaliatory action
The HTC led the surprise offensive that ousted Assad earlier this month. Scores of Syrians, most of them from the minority Alawite community, a branch of Shiite Islam to which Assad belongs, have been killed in reprisals since Assad’s ouster, according to activists and observers. In the capital, Damascus, scuffles broke out between Alawite protesters and Sunni demonstrators, and gunfire was heard. The Associated Press could not immediately confirm the shooting.
