Kathmandu : China has been active in uniting the communist parties of Nepal. He suggested that communist leaders travel to China and unite.

China has invited influential leaders of the CPN (Maoist Centre) for the visit. The issue of unity among the Communist Party of Nepal has come up during the visit of 20 leaders including Maoist Vice President Agni Sapkota to China.

The team, along with Sapkota, met Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing. One of the participating leaders reported that during the meeting Chao suggested that the communists in Nepal should unite.

Sapkota initially met Liu alone and later had a joint conversation with the team over lunch.

Liu suggested that political stability would come to Nepal if the communists united. The same suggestion was made by China to the CPN (UML) team visiting China in 2022.

China has played a role in uniting the two major communist parties of Nepal. A powerful force from China came to Kathmandu to stop the CPN split. However, China’s efforts were not successful.
