Children must be given anti-polio medicine: District Magistrate

Devaria: Pulse Polio campaign has started in the district from Sunday. On the first day, Booth Day was celebrated by giving medicine to children up to five years of age at 1759 booths set up in the district.

District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh said that if one’s child survives by taking polio medicine, the medicine should be given to the team while leaving. People should understand the importance of this campaign and give medicine. Chief Development Officer Ravindra Kumar said that polio has been eradicated from the country but recently polio virus has been found in Mozambique. Its virus is already present in neighboring countries. People there are also indifferent to medicine. Now it is the responsibility of every Indian citizen that he must give medicine to his children.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rajesh Jha said about this campaign that 944 house to house teams have been formed in the district. Who will go door to door and give medicine to children. Apart from this, 114 transit teams and 45 mobile teams will also provide medicines. As many as 4.93 lakh children of the district are to be given medicine.

The CMO said that enlightened people of the society should also contribute in giving medicine to brick kiln workers, slum dwellers and nomadic children as this group is a high risk group. Their protection is absolutely essential. Seven routine vaccinations are required for children up to five years of age.
